Advent Devotional 2014
When Christ was born, God did not want us to forget the story. He set in the hearts of two men – the tax collector and disciple, Matthew, and missionary and doctor, Luke – to seek out and tell the story of the birth of Jesus. One told the story from the perspective of Joseph and the other told Mary’s side. One shared the amazing story of wise men who came from the east to see the newborn King and the other told of shepherds who heard angels sing of His birth. One told of Herod’s search to kill the newly-born Messiah and the other told of the birth of his cousin and herald John the Baptist. How much we would have missed without the sharing of these stories.
That’s what this devotional is all about: the sharing of our priceless Christmas memories. We know that Christmas is all about celebrating our Savior, Emmanuel and keeping the focus on how much our Father loved us in becoming flesh and dwelling with us. We all celebrate the holiday in both similar and different ways. May this devotion over the four weeks of Advent stir in you sweet memories of your own and perhaps inspire new ways for you to celebrate our Christ’s birthday. Merry Christmas!
